GMC Sierra 2500 Denali

There are so many cool custom features about this three-quarter ton truck. But the coolest might be the retractable bed cover.

Imagine — opening your bed cover without lifting a finger. Instead, you’ll just need put down your finger on the button of a wireless remote and let technology handle the rest.

Most of our custom trucks have featured a Tonneau cover. Our GMC Sierras have had soft and hard covers, tri-folds and roll-ups. But this is one of the first trucks that’s received a bed cover that allows you to open, close and light your cover.

All with the press of a button.

In our most recent customization of this 2022 GMC Sierra 2500 HD Denali, our Dave Sinclair Customs team installed the remote-controlled Embark Power Max Retractable Tonneau Bed Cover from GMC Accessories.

The bed cover also comes with an interior LED light.

The Embark Power Max Retractable Tonneau Bed Cover is built with a spiral track system which prevents the cover from coming to contact with itself as it retracts. Its also reinforced with 20 aluminum support beams which allows the cover to hold 400 evenly distributed pounds.

With the wireless remote, which you can easily clip onto your keys, you’ll be able to:

1. Open the cover (”O” Button)
2. Close the cover (”C” Button)
3. And turn the LED light on and off (”Light Icon” button)

wheels & tires

This 2022 GMC Sierra 2500 HD Denali features its original factory wheels that were powder coated black. The 20-inch wheels, however, were given custom GMC center caps and black lug nuts.

Our Dave Sinclair Customs team then installed a set of NITTO Ridge Grappler tires. These off-road tires are around 34-inches tall and nearly 11-inches wide.

Official tire spec: LT275/65R22

The wheels on this truck are 20-inch factory wheels that have been powder coated black, and fitted with custom black center caps and lug nuts.

The brake calipers on this truck were also painted black.

GMC HD Denali

TRUCK: 2024 GMC Sierra 2500 HD Denali Crew Cab
CUSTOMIZATION: STAGE 2
COLOR: Downpour Metallic
STOCK: LT240372
The Stage 2 Customization gives any custom truck or SUV the works, and it starts with The Chrome Delete.

Deleting the Chrome

Dave Sinclair Customs provides a mostly painted chrome delete. Almost every chrome piece gets removed from the truck and put in our paint booth. Once they’re dry and pass a quality inspection, the pieces get put back on the truck.
This even includes the GMC emblems, the grille, and grille surround. The GMC emblems received unique 2-tone looks to complement their surroundings.
For this custom GMC Sierra 2500 HD Denali, we chose to color-match most of the chrome. We’re an experienced customization team, so matching the paint is a breeze for our paint team. Even if it’s a distinct color like Downpour Metallic.
Start your customization with Dave Sinclair Customs by pressing this link!
Color-matched chrome pieces included, but weren’t limited to, the:

· Door handles
· Keyless entry buttons
· Tow hooks
· Mirror caps
· Grille surround
· Front facia pieces
· Back facia pieces
Other pieces, like the grille, decals, and 2500 bumper pieces, received a coat of black paint.
Items we can’t paint — such as the side window trim and running boards — get vinyl-wrapped.

Wheels & Tires

We ordered this 2024 GMC Sierra 2500 HD Denali with 22-inch gloss black aluminum wheels. The only modifications we made were switching out the center caps and lug nuts.
We did swap out the tires, though. These 35-inch NITTO Trail Grappler tires replaced the factory set. The official tire spec was [35×12.50R/22].
While our team fitted the new NITTO tires onto the wheels, our techs installed a 3.5″ lift kit from ReadyLift. As well as a set of GMC brake caliper covers.

Accessories
This truck received a remote-controlled, retractable bed cover. A single button push can open and close the truck bed. Another button push turns the LED interior light on and off.
The Roll-N-Lock cover we installed was black. Which matched the truck’s spray-in bedliner quite well.
As a Buick-GMC dealership, we can always order accessories from the factory. The KICKER Bluetooth Tailgate Stereo is a perfect example. To save time, we can order these as part of an available package.
But we also have the option to add a KICKER stereo after the fact.
Another GMC Accessory we added was GMC All-Weather Floor Liners. We placed these liners in the first and second rows of the cabin.
To cap off the customization, we tinted the truck’s front windows to match the rear. Then, we had the rear windows tinted 5%.

A Chrome Delete, A Lift, and A Little Trust: How we upfitted the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali Ultimate for our Indiana customer, Jason

Jason had never heard of Dave Sinclair Customs before. In fact, he’d only been to St. Louis, Missouri, one time in his life.

But a few videos on social media caught his eye.

‘Man,’ the Northern Indiana native thought. ‘I really like the way they upfit their trucks.’

A few videos later, Jason had another thought

“I thought, ‘Huh, maybe I’d like them to do that to my truck when I get it,’” he said.

Jason already ordered his 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali Ultimate truck from a local dealer. But when it arrived, he reached out to us and connected with our Customs Director Dan Sinclair Jr.

“(It) has been a very painless process,” Jason said. “And it worked out very well.”

Throughout the entire process, Jason never saw the truck in-person at our dealership.

“I had a vision in my mind of what I thought it would look like,” he said. “To be honest, I think it turned out exactly like I thought, and if not a little bit better.”

Jason went with The Works Package, which is the top Dave Sinclair Customs customization package for the GMC Sierra 1500 truck.

This package included:

● A full chrome delete
● Dual-colored emblems
● A 3.5-inch lift
● New wheels
● Custom lugnuts & center caps
● New tires
● Painted red brake calipers
● Tinted windows
● Vinyl-wrapped running boards
● Vinyl-wrapped window trimming
● Hard tri-fold bed cover
● GMC All-Weather floor liners

Since Jason was a few states away, his updates came through calls, texts, and emails. He never saw the truck in-person until it was delivered to him.

“It takes a good amount of trust,” he said. “And I felt that throughout the whole process.”

Our team stayed in constant contact with him throughout the process.

“(Dan Sinclair Jr.) was very good about calling me and bringing me up to date,” Jason said.

“The communication was so vital and (Dave Sinclair Customs) was very, very good at that…That’s probably the single largest biggest thing that I appreciate — just the constant communication.”

THE CHROME DELETE

Jason said he wasn’t a chrome fan so the choice to go with the full chrome delete was, “a no-brainer.”

The color of Jason’s 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali Ultimate truck was Titanium Rush Metallic. It’s a dark blue shade that almost looks black. Instead of an all-Titanium Rush Metallic look, this custom job called for another color.

Gun Metal Gray.

This color acted as a complementary scheme to really make the truck pop.

The Gun Metal Gray scheme was applied to the model and trim decals and the front and back emblems. Meanwhile, the rest of the chrome pieces – such as the door handles, the mirror caps and tow hooks – were given a coat of Titanium Rush Metallic.

This is one of the few times we did not paint the grill for our full chrome delete. Instead, we chose to leave the Vader Chrome grill alone as it already contrasted well with the truck’s body color.

We use primarily use paint for our chrome deletes. The only items we do not paint are the running boards and window trimming on the side. For those pieces, we wrap them in vinyl.

“I really like the changes that were made to it,” Jason said. “They’re subtle, yet, striking. So, I think it really sets it apart without looking too over-the-top…It was exactly what I was hoping for.”

WHEELS, TIRES & LIFT

The aftermarket wheels Jason initially wanted for his truck weren’t in production anymore. However, Customs Director Dan Sinclair Jr. suggested using a set of 22-inch Black Rhino Kunene wheels.

Since they weren’t the right color, Dan had them powder-coated black.

“’I’m so glad that we were able to find those,” Jason said. “I love those wheels.”

The truck’s brake calipers were painted red, and the truck was given a 3.5-inch Fabtech Lift Kit.

Buick Envision

The Teen Driver Mode in the Buick Envision allows you to set parameters on your teenage driver while operating the vehicle. By programming a key fob and designating it as the teen’s key, you can set up certain safety functions that can promote better driving habits.

The Teen Driver Mode is an available feature in Buick SUV models and is not standard.

In this blog, we’ll give you step-by-step directions for activating the Teen Driver Mode. After the directions, we’ll share how to get the most out of this feature.

Registering The Key Fob

First, choose which of your Envision key fobs will be used for your teenage driver.

Next, get inside your Envision and start the engine. Remain in park throughout the remainder of the process.

Find the SETTINGS icon on your Envision’s Infotainment screen and press it. Then, choose VEHICLE and TEEN DRIVER>.

You will be asked to create a 4-Digit PIN. This PIN is to protect the programming you set up.

You will be asked to place the Teen Driver key fob in the transmitter pocket. This will be found inside the middle console between the driver and front passenger seats.

Now, you will select SETUP KEYS. Then, press ADD to activate the key fob’s registration.

Once the registration is confirmed, you can select OK.

Managing Your Teen Driver Mode

Now that your teen’s key fob is registered, you’re able to start programming it to your liking.

On your Infotainment screen, hit the SETTINGS icon, then select VEHICLE, followed by TEEN DRIVER.

Once the Teen Driver screen is loaded, find MANAGE SETTINGS and press it.

The settings page will offer a list of different features and parameters you can activate, such as:

● Buckle to Drive
● Teen Driver Speed Limiter
● Teen Driver Speed Warning
● Audio Volume Limit

You will need to set the Speed Warning, Speed Limiter, and Audio Volume Limit manually. With each function, you can save your settings by clicking the BACK ARROW on each screen.

The Report Card

You can always check your teen’s driving report by clicking the REPORT CARD button on the Teen Driver home screen.

The Report Card will let you know

● How many miles your teen has driven
● What their max speed was
● How many speed warnings they received
● How many times they pushed the throttle wide open
● When traction and stability controls were activated
● When the antilock brakes were activate

Jim was excited to receive his fully-customized 2022 GMC Sierra 3500 Denali HD.

And Greg, Jim’s salesperson, was just as excited as Jim was.

“It was super exciting,” Greg said. “It was like seeing your first bike as a kid on Christmas. But a lot cooler. It was a fun test drive.”

This particular customization took one month to complete. During that time, Jim received updates with photos, text, and emails. He’d also receive occasional video from Greg. But finally seeing the truck in-person was a different experience.

“It’s actually better than I thought,” Jim said.

Jim, a Kentucky native, said he found Dave Sinclair Customs through social media. He liked what he saw, and called the dealership.

“So, I came in one day and I get a phone call from Jim,” Greg said. “He was looking for a heavy-duty truck and he wanted something a little bit different.”

Jim selected a Summit White GMC Sierra 3500 Denali HD. Once the truck arrived from the factory, the customization began.

“He wanted something different – that nobody around him would have,” Greg said. The kind of look that would raise plenty of eyebrows wherever he went.

● NITTO Ridge Grappler Tires

● 3.5 SUSPENSION LIFT from READYLIFT

“With our social media team, all of these custom vehicles have opened us up to everyone around the country,” Greg said. “So, we’ll routinely get calls from California, Kentucky, Texas, Florida – all over the place.

“People want something where they don’t have to jump around to different places to get different things done. We do the lifts here, we do the (chrome deletes) here … It’s kind of a one-stop shop.”

Like he would with out-of-town new or used car customers, Greg made sure to keep Jim updated on everything. Since this was a custom vehicle, Greg touched base with Jim every few days.

“It was a great process,” Jim said. “Greg did a great job. (He) stuck with me. We texted, sent emails back and forth. It was a good process all the way through.”

For Greg, it was “awesome” to see Jim finally pick-up his new 2022 GMC Sierra 3500 Denali HD.

“I know it’s super exciting for (Jim),” Greg said. “Watching what he envisioned for his new truck come to life was really cool…Just being a part of that and helping him get the final product is awesome.”

GMC Truck

The excitement for the refreshed 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 was high this spring. Very high.

In fact, it was so high a few trucks were even sold before we could unload them off the transport and pull them into our shop.

Eventually, however, we were able to get two trucks into our shop for custom work and we couldn’t have been more excited.

In today’s blog, we will showcase the first of those two customizations and lay out everything our team did to complete this custom look.

the chrome delete

For this truck, our team went with a full chrome delete.

At Dave Sinclair Customs, our chrome deletes primarily use paint. Our talented painting professional start the chrome delete process by removing the chrome pieces from the vehicle and begin sanding the pieces.

Once that’s complete, they begin the painting process which includes primer and several coats of paint. After the pieces dry, our team reinstalls everything back onto the vehicle.

One popular question we get is, “Do you order your grills or grill surrounds?”

Dave Sinclair Customs doesn’t order any grill or grill surround. We paint everything in-house.

While our chrome deletes are primarily paint, we do use vinyl wrap on select items, mainly the side window trim and the running boards.

For the GMC emblems and decals (Sierra, AT4, etc), we have to take off each letter one-by-one and piece each piece individually. Then, once those pieces are dry, our painters re-apply those pieces back to their original look, letter-by-letter. It’s a very meticulous process that requires a lot of focus and patience.

For the GMC emblem, we went with a dual-color combination of black and red. The colors complement each other well and it really amplifies the AT4 trim.

wheels, tires, and lift

The 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4 comes standard with 18-inch machined aluminum wheels with Dark Grey Accents and Mud-Terrain Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac tires (LT275/65R18C).

For our customization, we replaced the standard wheels with 22-inch gloss black wheels from Black Rhino. The model we chose was Kunene.

Looking through the spokes of the tire, you’ll see the brake caliper that we painted Red. Most of the time, our customizations will feature a red brake caliper. But every so often, you might see other colors like Black, Blue, and even Yellow.

As for the wheels, we went with our favorite — The Ridge Grappler from NITTO tires. This specific tire is about 33 inches tall and 12 inches wide (LT285/50R22).

The Sierra 1500 AT4 also comes with a standard 2-inch lift kit. To give the truck an even sit, our crew installed a front suspension level from ReadyLift.

other installs

This 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4 also received:

  • A Bluetooth Tailgate Stereo from KICKER

Buick GMC Car

Did you know several Buicks are equipped with a fuel-saving technology called start-stop? This innovative technology features allows the engine to turn off when the vehicle is stopped, say at a red light, and then start again when you take your foot off the brake.

It’s the newest effort to reduce vehicle emissions and save fuel and is not going anywhere any time soon.

That’s because manufacturers are under intense pressure to meet strict fuel economy standards by 2025 and they are using ever more creative ways to wring out every last bit of fuel efficiency from conventional gasoline and diesel engines.

According to a New York Times article, the fuel savings with start-stop can add up. Under average driving conditions, savings are 3 percent to 5 percent. But with a lot of stops and traffic lights that stay red for extended periods, that can rise to 10 percent.

By the 2018 model year, all Buicks will come equipped with the technology. Currently Buick’s Encore and Envision offer it.
We welcome you to test drive one of the many vehicles at Dave Sinclair Buick GMC, in St. Louis to experience start-stop technology for yourself.

GMC Engine

With the changing of leaves, and cooler weather, the demands on your car change. Prevent getting stranded, or other safety issues with these 6 tips!

Check your tire pressure. Your tire pressure will decrease about 1 psi for every 10 degrees Fahrenheit the outside air temperature drops.
Check and Replace wiper blades. Check the rubber on your wiper blades to ensure they are flexible and free of cracks. Spray your windshield with water, and give your wipers a test run before the rain hits.

Look under the hood. You don’t have to be an automotive expert to spot issues. A cracked hose? Loose belt? Or leaks under your car? These are all signs that you may be due for a service.
Have your battery checked. Cold weather puts more demand on your battery. A loose cable, or corrosion could leave you stranded in an inopportune time.

Check your lights. Grab a friend, and do a visual inspection of all your lights, ensuring brake lights and turn signals work as intended.
You may not have needed the heater for the past few months, but check it now to ensure it’s working before you need it.

If you have any questions, or need help with any of these, stop by or give us a call!
