Summer heat can be hard on your vehicle. Before the hottest days arrive, it is smart to check a few key maintenance items.
Start with your air conditioning. If your AC is not blowing cold air, feels weak, or has a strange smell, it may need service.
Next, check your battery. Many drivers think battery problems only happen in winter, but heat can also wear down a battery.
Your tires are important too. Hot pavement and long drives can put extra stress on tires. Check tire pressure, tread depth, and uneven wear.
You should also check:
- Coolant level
- Oil life
- Brakes
- Wiper blades
- Washer fluid
- Cabin air filter
- Headlights and brake lights
Coolant is especially important in summer because it helps your engine manage heat. If coolant is low, your vehicle may be more likely to overheat.
Summer is also a good time to replace your cabin air filter if your air conditioning does not feel as strong or fresh as it used to.
If you have a road trip planned, schedule a Multi-Point Vehicle Inspection before you leave.
