Customizing the GMC Sierra 1500 Denali Ultimate with Dave Sinclair Customs

GMC Sierra 1500

A Chrome Delete, A Lift, and A Little Trust: How we upfitted the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali Ultimate for our Indiana customer, Jason

Jason had never heard of Dave Sinclair Customs before. In fact, he’d only been to St. Louis, Missouri, one time in his life.

But a few videos on social media caught his eye.

‘Man,’ the Northern Indiana native thought. ‘I really like the way they upfit their trucks.’

A few videos later, Jason had another thought

“I thought, ‘Huh, maybe I’d like them to do that to my truck when I get it,’” he said.

Jason already ordered his 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali Ultimate truck from a local dealer. But when it arrived, he reached out to us and connected with our Customs Director Dan Sinclair Jr.

“(It) has been a very painless process,” Jason said. “And it worked out very well.”

Throughout the entire process, Jason never saw the truck in-person at our dealership.

“I had a vision in my mind of what I thought it would look like,” he said. “To be honest, I think it turned out exactly like I thought, and if not a little bit better.”

Jason went with The Works Package, which is the top Dave Sinclair Customs customization package for the GMC Sierra 1500 truck.

This package included:

● A full chrome delete
● Dual-colored emblems
● A 3.5-inch lift
● New wheels
● Custom lugnuts & center caps
● New tires
● Painted red brake calipers
● Tinted windows
● Vinyl-wrapped running boards
● Vinyl-wrapped window trimming
● Hard tri-fold bed cover
● GMC All-Weather floor liners

Since Jason was a few states away, his updates came through calls, texts, and emails. He never saw the truck in-person until it was delivered to him.

“It takes a good amount of trust,” he said. “And I felt that throughout the whole process.”

Our team stayed in constant contact with him throughout the process.

“(Dan Sinclair Jr.) was very good about calling me and bringing me up to date,” Jason said.

“The communication was so vital and (Dave Sinclair Customs) was very, very good at that…That’s probably the single largest biggest thing that I appreciate — just the constant communication.”

THE CHROME DELETE

Jason said he wasn’t a chrome fan so the choice to go with the full chrome delete was, “a no-brainer.”

The color of Jason’s 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali Ultimate truck was Titanium Rush Metallic. It’s a dark blue shade that almost looks black. Instead of an all-Titanium Rush Metallic look, this custom job called for another color.

Gun Metal Gray.

This color acted as a complementary scheme to really make the truck pop.

The Gun Metal Gray scheme was applied to the model and trim decals and the front and back emblems. Meanwhile, the rest of the chrome pieces – such as the door handles, the mirror caps and tow hooks – were given a coat of Titanium Rush Metallic.

This is one of the few times we did not paint the grill for our full chrome delete. Instead, we chose to leave the Vader Chrome grill alone as it already contrasted well with the truck’s body color.

We use primarily use paint for our chrome deletes. The only items we do not paint are the running boards and window trimming on the side. For those pieces, we wrap them in vinyl.

“I really like the changes that were made to it,” Jason said. “They're subtle, yet, striking. So, I think it really sets it apart without looking too over-the-top…It was exactly what I was hoping for.”

WHEELS, TIRES & LIFT

The aftermarket wheels Jason initially wanted for his truck weren’t in production anymore. However, Customs Director Dan Sinclair Jr. suggested using a set of 22-inch Black Rhino Kunene wheels.

Since they weren’t the right color, Dan had them powder-coated black.

“'I’m so glad that we were able to find those,” Jason said. “I love those wheels.”

The truck’s brake calipers were painted red, and the truck was given a 3.5-inch Fabtech Lift Kit.

The Denali starts with a 5.3L V8, premium interior materials and 12-way power front seats. The Denali Ultimate steps up to a standard 6.2L V8, Super Cruise, 16-way massaging front seats and additional premium design and technology features. What Comes Standard on the 2026 Sierra 1500 Denali? The 2026 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali uses a 5.3L V8 engine with a 10-speed automatic transmission as its standard powertrain. Key Denali features include: Signature Denali grille with chrome header Chrome wheel-to-wheel assist steps Authentic wood trim Patterned aluminum trim Forge perforated-leather seating surfaces 12-way power front seats with power lumbar The Denali is not limited to its standard engine. GMC lists the 3.0L Duramax Turbo-Diesel as an available powertrain. Is Super Cruise Standard on the Sierra 1500 Denali? No. Super Cruise hands-free driver assistance technology is available on the 2026 Sierra 1500 Denali rather than standard. That distinction becomes important when comparing Denali with Denali Ultimate. What Does Denali Ultimate Add? The 2026 Sierra 1500 Denali Ultimate includes or substitutes several major features over the Denali. Performance & Technology 6.2L V8 with 10-speed automatic transmission Super Cruise hands-free driver assistance technology 12-speaker Bose Premium Series audio system with Centerpoint surround sound Interior & Design Alpine Umber interior with full-grain leather seating 16-way power heated and ventilated front seats with massage Signature Denali Vader Chrome grille 22-inch 7-spoke Ultra-Bright machined aluminum wheels with Bright Chrome accents GMC also lists the 3.0L Duramax Turbo-Diesel as an available Denali Ultimate powertrain. Denali or Denali Ultimate? The regular Denali already gives shoppers the Sierra's Denali design, premium interior materials, power front seats and standard V8 power. Denali Ultimate puts several upgrades into the standard equipment list, especially Super Cruise, the 6.2L V8, massaging front seats, full-grain leather and the 12-speaker Bose system. When comparing actual trucks, check the equipment on the specific vehicle rather than assuming every Denali is configured the same way. Dave Sinclair Buick GMC in St. Louis can help you compare current Sierra 1500 Denali and Denali Ultimate models and find the equipment combination that matters to you.

What Comes With the 2026 GMC Sierra 1500 Elevation Premium Package?

See what comes with the 2026 GMC Sierra 1500 Elevation Premium Package, including leather seats, Bose audio, Adaptive Cruise Control and more. The 2026 GMC Sierra 1500 Elevation Premium Package adds several comfort, technology, safety and appearance features to the Elevation, including leather-appointed front bucket seats, Bose audio, Adaptive Cruise Control, Hitch View and wireless smartphone charging. It is useful to understand this package because two Sierra 1500 Elevation trucks can have noticeably different interiors and equipment. What Is Standard on the 2026 Sierra 1500 Elevation? The Elevation already includes several upgrades over the lower Sierra trims. GMC lists features including a 13.4-inch Premium GMC Infotainment System with Google built-in compatibility, along with heated front seating and a heated steering wheel as part of the Elevation's equipment. The Elevation also has distinctive exterior details such as a body-color grille header with gloss-black mesh inserts. The standard engine is the TurboMax, which produces 310 horsepower and 430 lb.-ft. of torque and is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Other powertrain choices are available depending on configuration. What Does the Elevation Premium Package Add? GMC lists the following among the key features of the Elevation Premium Package: Comfort & Interior Jet Black leather-appointed front bucket seats Center console Up-level rear-seat storage Wireless smartphone charging Technology & Equipment 7-speaker Bose Premium Audio System with Richbass woofer Adaptive Cruise Control Hitch View Spray-on bedliner with GMC logo 6-inch black rectangular assist steps These features change both the cabin and the everyday equipment compared with a more basic Elevation configuration. Does Every 2026 Sierra 1500 Elevation Have Leather Seats? No. Leather-appointed front seats are not standard equipment on every Elevation. GMC's current build information shows cloth seating with a 40/20/40 split-bench front seat as standard on an Elevation configuration, while the Elevation Premium Package adds Jet Black leather-appointed front bucket seats and a center console. That makes the package especially important to check when comparing Elevation trucks online. What This Means When Shopping for an Elevation Do not assume that every Sierra 1500 Elevation has the same interior simply because the exterior trim name is the same. One Elevation may have the standard bench-seat layout, while an Elevation equipped with the Premium Package can have leather-appointed bucket seats, a center console, wireless charging and additional driver-assistance equipment. When browsing inventory at Dave Sinclair Buick GMC in St. Louis, check each Sierra Elevation's individual equipment or contact the dealership if you are trying to find a particular configuration.

What Is the 2026 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4X AEV Edition?

The 2026 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4X AEV Edition is an available version of the AT4X that adds specialized off-road equipment and AEV-specific design details developed with American Expedition Vehicles. It does not replace the AT4X. Instead, it builds on the equipment already included with the AT4X. What Does the Regular Sierra 1500 AT4X Already Have? Before looking at the AEV Edition, it helps to understand the regular AT4X. The 2026 Sierra 1500 AT4X already includes equipment such as: Front and rear electronic-locking differentials Multimatic DSSV dampers 2-inch factory suspension lift AEV stamped-steel front bumper Front winch capability Stamped boron-steel front approach skid plate 16-way heated and ventilated front seats with massage Those features are part of the AT4X itself, not features that require the AEV Edition. What Does the AT4X AEV Edition Add? The AEV Edition builds on that foundation with additional AEV equipment. Protection & Off-Road Equipment AEV stamped-steel front and rear bumpers Front winch capability Five hot-stamped boron-steel AEV skid plates Off-road rocker-panel protectors Wheels & AEV Details AEV racing-inspired Salta wheels with a 12-spoke design AEV exterior badging AEV-branded interior details An optional bolt-on step assist is also offered for use when the truck is not being driven off-road. How Is the AEV Edition Different From a Regular AT4X? The biggest difference is that the regular AT4X already supplies the core off-road equipment, including its electronic-locking differentials and Multimatic DSSV dampers. The AEV Edition adds another layer of specialized protection, bumpers, wheels and AEV-specific details. That distinction is useful when shopping because seeing "AT4X" does not automatically mean the truck has the complete AEV Edition. Is the AT4X AEV Edition a Separate Sierra Trim? GMC presents the AT4X as the trim and the AEV Edition as an available edition of the AT4X. For shoppers, the important question is therefore not simply whether a Sierra is an AT4X. It is whether that specific AT4X is equipped with the AEV Edition. Dave Sinclair Buick GMC in St. Louis can help you identify whether a Sierra 1500 AT4X has the AEV Edition and compare its equipment with a standard AT4X.
